Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology or popularly known as G. B. Pant University was named after the then Chief Minister of UP Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant. The University was made a University of National importance by the first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru on 17th November 1960. The prime focus of this University is in the area of agricultural education, research and extension. G. B. Pant University gave way for setting up of 31 other agricultural universities in India.
