IAF Exam Pattern 2014 Eligibility and Qualifying Criteria Details

The Indian Air Force (IAF) invites for the selection of eligible candidates in the different technical and flying branches through a common written test also known as the AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test). The candidates in order to appear in the concerned exam should possess at least graduation in the PCM Group of subjects with at least 60% marks obtained in it.

Exam Pattern for AFCAT 2014:

The Air Force Common Admission Test is held in two main stages namely: Psychological Tests, Group Tests and Interview respectively. Apart from this a Pilot Aptitude Test is conducted especially for selecting eligible candidates in the Flying Branch posts. The paper for the AFCAT 2014 consists of objective type MCQs on the following main sections/ topics:

1. Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test

2. Verbal Ability (English)

3. Numerical Ability and

4. General Awareness respectively

Total Number of Questions: 100

Total Marks: 300

Duration of Exam: 2 Hours

Marking Criteria:

The candidates will be given three marks for each correct answer marked by them while there will be a deduction of one mark for each wrong answer marked by them. Since, there is negative marking hence; the candidates should not attempt more questions.

Mode of Answering:

The candidates will be required to answer questions through the OMR Sheets as provided to them for this purpose. Only HB Pencils or Black Ball Point Pens should be used by the candidates for marking the answers in the OMR. The OMR Sheets will be taken by the examiner after the conduct of the examination.

Eligibility for Exam:

The candidates who have to appear in the Indian Air Force Entrance Exam must possess graduation for flying branch and Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics) along with Associate Member of Institutions of Engineers or ASI (Aeronautical Society of India) or any other equivalent degree for being eligible to the posts under the Technical Branch of the IAF for this purpose.
